Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy

The story takes place in England and Ireland and it's about a girl called Stephanie and she gets her uncles old mansion where she spent a lot of time when she was little. Then when she is there a man calls her and then tries to break in to the house and also tries to attack her, but during that time another man comes in and throws fire after him so he runs away. Then she says hi and she gets his name which is Skulduggery Pleasant and he is there because he is looking for a key to a super weapon that he wants to keep the evil people from getting and during that time they are gonna kill monsters and that stuff. The book is a science fiction detective kind of book, there is a mystery and they can also do magic. One of the more important chapters in the book is probably number 4, because that is when you get to know what is going on and what the book is gonna be about.

As I mentioned there is a girl called Stephanie and she is one of the main characters, she is 12 years old and she dresses casually, she has black hair and she can get aggressive. Then there is the skeleton guy who always has a lot of clothes and can do a lot of magic and is a very calm person who can suffer himself for other people's lives. The story takes place in both England and Ireland, the mansion is outside Dublin, and they fight in England against bad people. The settings are kinda well described, the fights are even more detailed.

The author wrote this book mostly for money I think and to entertain people. I think that the book is kinda good. It's boring in the beginning but it gets better with time. I would recommend it to people who like science fiction. It's easy to read if you know a little English because the words are sentences are big and the chapters are not too long. The ending was kinda expected I knew that it would turn out the way it did, just because you can feel it when you read. I don't like that it took a while before the book became good, other wise it was a good book.
