Skulduggery pleasant by Derek Landy

The story takes place in England for the most part, but later in the book they’re in Dublin, Ireland. It's about a twelve year old girl that inherits a house from her dead uncle, who wrote horror storyies. She meets some mysterious man, who is covering his full body with clothing, that would later help her when someone broke into her new house. The man was a living skeleton that could do some magic like throw fireballs. She would later speak a little bit with him and learn that there was a different world and that the man whos name was Skulduggery pleasant, and is a detective there. He used to be friends with her uncle and Stephanie (the girl) wanted to join him on his adventures. Skulduggery warns her, but eventually agreed. Later they find out that someone is after the ultimate weapon and they plan to use as a key to bring back the the faceless ones but that’s just what they believe. The main bad guy who’s name is Serpine plans to get to the Book of Names which makes him be able to control anyone by just knowing their real name. That's what the book i about, or not about but it has a list of everyone’s real name.

The main Characters of the book is Skulduggery pleasant, Stephanie and Serpine.

I feel like the book was made for children who are about nine, and it is quite easy to read, though it doesn't have any pictures in it except for in the front obviously

The book is about 400 pages long with about 30 chapters and is the first book in the series.

In my opinion the book wasn’t great but that’s pretty biased since i got forced to read it and i'm not the biggest fan of any type of literature.

I guess it wasn't that bad even though it was a bit of a torture to read in the beginning. The end was somewhat entertaining, but I feel like my opinion is quite similar to my friends.

I believe the other books in the franchise will be better with each book, though it was a bit slow and boring and I believe that that pattern will keep on going since that’s the writer's style. I don’t know if my opinion would have been different if I didn’t get forced to read it.
