SHELTER by Harlan Coben

It all starts when 15-years old Mickey passes the house of an old woman known as The Bat Lady. On the day in question the old, long white haired lady also known as the bat lady opens her front house door and addresses little Mickey telling him that his father, which death Mickey witnessed, is in fact alive.

Mickey’s beautiful girlfriend, named Ashley, has suddenly disappeared from school, and from Mickey’s life, without a trace. Mickey does what his uncle would do and begins investigating Ashley’s disappearance. He is helped by two of his friends the first one is an odd kid named Spoon and Ema a practicing goth girl. And there's Ashley that every boy in school want her but she only has eyes for Mickey. And the foursome begins a journey of investigations far away from high school in New Jersey gathering clue after clue in order to find Mickeys lost girlfriend who she turned out to be nothing like the girl he knew.

Meanwhile, help comes from an unexpected source, which reveals things about Mickey and his family that leave him stunned and wanting to know more.

The message behind this book is that you should fight for your love, you have to overcome everything that gets in your way to protect the people you love. I think Harlan Coben decided to write that Mickey plays basketball because he played basketball in his earlier life. So he wanted to say that Mickey is very much like him.

Shelter is a really good book to read. The book is in a high English Level so if you really want high standard English words it's the best choice for you. Mickey wanted to find his girlfriend, he kept looking and looking and looking for her until he found her kidnaped in a nightclub. So that shows how the person that loves you could do just to know where you are. This book would get a five out of five from me. I really recommend this book for teenagers like me because when you read this book you'll see how loyal Mickey was to Ashley. How hard he tried to find her.
