Elevrecension: Angel of Venice

Book review of Angel of Venice by Mary Hoffman
The book was first published in 2014 in Great Britain. The Angel of Venice has got 97 pages of text and 15 chapters and it’s not in a series. The genres of the book are romantic, adventure and history. The story in the book takes place in the 16th century, in the country of Italy and the city of Venice.

The main characters in the book are Luca, Fina and Nico. Luca is the most important main character because he's the one you will be following in the book. Nico and Fina are Lucas´ friends. Angelina is also a bit of a main character because she’s the one that Luca gets in love with. But he doesn’t meet her that much that we would call her a main character.

It starts with Luca working at the shipyard and he is very curious about the war. He asks his father questions all the time. One ordinary day he meets Angelina in the street. Luca starts to give her food and talk to her and then he went away with a boat to fight. Luca is 16 years old and works hard at his father´s shipyard. He wants to fight to get Angelina a present when he’s going back because Angelina is a rich man's daughter and he is a normal boy. Fina has been his friend for a long time and they have grown up together. Luca finds Nico on the same boat and Nico gets to be his only friend at the boat.

We both think the book was pretty good. One of us thought that the book was going to be good just because the book took place a long time ago in 1571 during a time when it was war. The other one just took it because this book looked better than the other ones and because it was a beautiful front page. After we both read the book we think it was really good. One of us thought the book was good just because one of us likes older books and movies. That one also thinks that the author has described the nature very well which gives you a picture of it. The other one thought the book was really good to read because the book was dyslexia friendly and there were no hard words. The last page had a wordlist on boat words and that helped if you didn't know the word for example (shipyard= a place where ships are built). We recommend this book to people who don't like to read long books with hard words. The book has a good story and the author has written this well.
