Snapshot

Snapshot by Robert Swindells

I’ve read a book that is called Snapshot. It’s a very short book with only 50 pages. The main character is named Alfie Gott, He seems to be a teenager living in northern Britain. You don’t really get to know him too well. The way the author writes makes me think that he’s from northern Britain, maybe Scotland. He uses a couple of slang words that seems very “Scottish” And it’s a bit hard to understand sometimes. I think the genre is kind of a thriller, because there’s a lot of action in the book.

The story begins with Alfie getting a new camera for his birthday, and when he went out to take some pictures he accidentally witnessed a robbery on a jewelry store. He took out his new camera and shot some pictures of the robbery and one of the robbers saw him. Alfie then got interviewed by some policemen. He didn’t tell them about the camera. Later when he started to walk home he noticed he was getting followed by one of the robbers. He figured out that the robbers wanted the evidence that Alfie had in his camera. Alfie tried to get away from the robber but he didn’t really succeed. While he was being followed he met some guys from his school, and Alfie handed the camera to them and then walked away. The robber that was following Alfie saw that he gave the camera to them, and the robber pulled out a gun and killed Alfie’s friend. The robber then took the camera and ran away. But Alfie had earlier put the memory card in his pocket so the robber didn’t get the pictures. The police came to the place where the boy had been murdered and the police started to interview Alfie and he told the police everything about the robbery and the camera. The police then took the memory card so they could use it as evidence against the robbers. Later the robber found out where Alfie lived, he then broke into his house and threatened Alfie with a gun, he wanted the memory card that Alfie gave the police. the robber then fired 4 bullets and then ran away, the police came after that and Alfie got to know that the robber didn’t want to get the rid of the evidence of the robbery, there were something else he had caught when he took the pictures...

This book was very thrilling and there was always stuff going on, that left me confused sometimes. I would recommend this book to people who want something quick to read, but want something thrilling. It’s only 50 pages so it doesn’t take that long to read the whole book. I would give this 8/10.
